Catherine North Studios is one of Hamilton's oldest music recording facilities.
Located inside a beautiful and inspiring century old Church.
Catherine North Studios is a 1500 square ft. open-concept music recording studio located in the heart of downtown Hamilton Ontario. The century-old converted church has been home to many iconic Canadian and International recording artists and albums including: City & Colour Feist Broken Social Scene Arkells The Glorious Sons Cam Kahin Whitehorse Loreena McKennitt & many more.
The building was first converted into to a private music recording studio in the 90’s by Christopher Bromwich. Later, Dan Achen and Glen Marshall moved the original Catherine North Recording House into the main floor of the studio around the end of the decade and expanded to the rest of the building shortly after.
Fast forward to the present, and the studio stands strong with over two decades of experience. At the helm of the studio are Duke Foster, Tristan Miller, and Will Crann, alongside a talented network of recording engineers and music producers, all dedicated to the art of crafting exceptional music recordings.
Step into our beautiful and inspiring live recording room with 20ft tall ceilings, filled with a curated collection of both new and vintage instruments and recording equipment. Combined with our stress-free, safe, positive, and creative atmosphere, the studio sets the stage for a rewarding and memorable audio recording experience.
Catherine North is proud to be Hamilton's First downtown studio using a Dolby Atmos mix system, and other forms of Spatial Audio! (Stereo - 5.1 and 7.1 Surround - 7.1.4 Immersive). With over a dozen guitars, a collection of pedals, 3+ Drum kits, 15 amps, a variety of Keys and Synths and access to a variety of additional rentable equipment, creative possibilities are endless.
